PicturesQ Privacy Policy
PicturesQ is a local-first application. Your images never leave your computer, and the app contains no analytics, telemetry, or advertising identifiers. This policy describes the small amount of data we do handle, and why.

The app: your images stay on your device
PicturesQ views and organises image files stored on your own computer. Your images, thumbnails, tags, ratings, and the search catalog are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to us. The app does not include analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
The embedded MCP server (which lets AI tools on your computer work with your image catalog) listens only on your own machine (localhost). It is not reachable from the internet and sends nothing to us.
If you explicitly ask the app to open a URL, the app fetches that address directly from your device, like a web browser would. Which URLs you open is never sent to us, logged by us, or used in any way — only the site you're fetching from sees the request.
Purchases
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. After a purchase, Stripe provides us with your email address and an order reference, which we use to create your license, show your key on the confirmation page, and email it to you. We keep this purchase record (email, order reference, license key) so we can look up your license if you ever need support or a resend.
License activation
When you activate a Premium license, the app contacts our licensing server and sends: your license key, a randomly generated device identifier (not derived from hardware serial numbers), your computer's name, and your operating system. This is used solely to enforce the per-device license limit. The app re-checks the license periodically and caches the result so it also works offline.
Our licensing server is self-hosted by us on infrastructure located in the European Union (Finland) — license data is not shared with any third-party licensing service.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Like virtually all websites, our hosting provider (Web Hosting Canada) keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and operations.
Downloads are served from GitHub, and this page loads its typeface from Google Fonts — those services see your IP address when your browser talks to them, under GitHub's and Google's privacy policies respectively.
What we never do
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone. We do not profile you, advertise to you, or track you across other sites. We collect nothing beyond what is described above.
Retention and your rights
Purchase and license records are kept for as long as your license is valid (it's a lifetime license, so: until you ask us to remove it) and as required for tax and accounting law. You can ask us at any time to see, correct, or delete the data we hold about you — deleting a license record will deactivate the associated license. Just email us.
Changes
If we change how PicturesQ handles data, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top before the change takes effect.
